About Atticus Finch
Project: Projection-Mapping Animation for Saudi Arabian Water Park
Role: 3D Generalist (Environment & FX)
Studio: Atticus Finch Ltd, London
I worked as a 3D generalist on a large-scale projection-mapping animation created for display on a mountain at a new water park in Saudi Arabia. The piece followed a whimsical story of a camel traveling through imaginative, character-filled landscapes.
My role involved building detailed environments, developing visual effects, and animating transitions between scenes. I focused especially on the transitions, using Blender's geometry nodes to create procedural sand systems that brought movement and texture to key moments.
One of the trickier challenges was designing modular environments that could repeat seamlessly while allowing scenes to flow naturally. This required a mix of experimentation and problem-solving. I worked closely with the art director and supervisor, regularly refining models, textures, and lighting based on feedback.
The project was technically demanding but deeply rewarding. The team at Atticus Finch was sharp, creative, and collaborative. I'd happily work with them again. Their work's worth checking out at atticusfinch.tv.
Please note: The videos shown here highlight only the scenes I personally worked on and do not represent the complete animation, which is currently still in development.
